Ministry to assign three geothermal areas to PLN

The Directorate General of New and Renewable Energy at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources is currently making assessment for the possibility to assign three geothermal areas to state-owned electricity firm PT PLN.

The three geothermal areas (WKP) are WKP Songa Wayaua in North Maluku, WKP Atedai in Lembata Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, and WKP Tangkuban Perahu, in West Java.

?It?s still being reviewed which of the geothermal areas will be assigned to PLN,? said Director General of New and Renewable Energy Rida Mulyana to Petromindo.com on Monday.

Information obtained by Petromindo.com that Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Ignasius Jonan has asked the directorate to assign directly geothermal areas to PLN for development without having to go through tender process.
