Minor damage caused by tsunamis at Herald's planned port site in Aceh

Australian mining company Herald Resources Limited reported Wednesday a minor damage had occurred at one of the possible port sites for its Dairi zinc-lead project following the recent earthquake and resulting tsunamis.

According to Herald, the port site is located on the coast of Singkil, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam province. It was selected due to its relatively sheltered location and limited exposure to such events.

Meanwhile, the natural disasters had caused no damage or injuries to its main Dairi project site as it is located in the province of North Sumatra and roughly in the middle of the Sumatra land mass, Herald said.

Herald is developing the high grade Anjing Hitam deposit, which is expected to produce one million ton per year within the next few years.

The company has a 80 percent stake in PT Dairi Prima Mineral, which owns the project, while state miner PT Aneka Tambang Tbk holds the remaining 20 percent. (Robert)
