MISC, Mitsui eyeing Jakarta Bay LNG receiving terminal contract

MISC, a shipping unit of Malaysian oil, gas giant Petronas and Japanese firm Mitsui Corp are among competitors to win project to develop an LNG floating storage receiving terminal (FSRT) in Jakarta Bay owned jointly by state oil, gas firm PT Pertamina (Persero) and state gas distribution firm PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN), an industry source said.
The source said 6 companies were invited to submit bids for the project.
Other known contender is Bermuda-based firm Golar LNG Energy.
Pertamina and PGN on February 22 announced the opening of PQ tender to search for contractor to develop the FSRT with capacity to process 3 MTPA of LNG.
The FSRT facility would consist of pipeline between FSRT& ORF (24? x 14,7km) including shore approach & HDD at Muara Karang site and Onshore Receiving Facility (ORF) complete with associated utilities at Muara Karang power plant site to supply gas with the volume of 500 MMSCFD.
The project is expected to become onstream in late 2011 or early 2012. (godang)
