Mitra Bara Jaya to start coal production next year

East Kalimantan coal miner PT Mitra Bara Jaya (MBJ) is planning to start production from its mine in Tana Tidung regency next year,
President Director Budy Wibowo told Petromindo.Com on a sideline of Coaltrans conference in Bali on Monday that currently the Company is in the process of selecting mining contractor. ?We have held talks with several candidates including PT Pamapersada Nusantara PT Bukit Makmur Mandiri Utama (BUMA), but thus far, no decision has been made,? he said.
MBJ plans to produce 1.2 million tonnes in the first year, ramping up to 3 MT the following year, he said, adding that the Company is teaming up with an undisclosed Chinese firm to develop the mine.
The entire mine?s output will be exported to China, he said, adding that the mine would produce low and medium rank coal. (denny)
