Mitra Energy spuds Batara Sambu-1 well

Mitra Energy Biliton Pte. Ltd, a unit of privately-owned independent oil and gas exploration firm Mitra Energy Limited, said that the exploration well, Batara Sambu-1, was spudded in the Biliton PSC, offshore Indonesia.

The well is drilled by the Jack-up drilling rig 'Randolph Yost,? the company said in a statement on Tuesday.

The Biliton PSC covers an area of 1,302 km? and lies offshore West Java in water depths of less than 50 meters.

Mitra Energy Biliton Pte. Ltd. (Mitra) holds a 47.5 percent operating working interest in the PSC while the remaining interests in the PSC are held by Geopetrol Biliton Corp. (47.5%) and PT Mitra Energy Development (5%).
