Mitra Energy (Indonesia Bone) Limited, a unit of privately-owned independent oil and gas exploration firm Mitra Energy Limited, said it commenced a 2D seismic data acquisition survey in the Bone PSC, offshore Sulawesi on January 18, using the vessel SV Nordic Bahari.

?It is expected that around 1,500 line kms of data will be acquired in water depths ranging from 5 to 200 meters,? the company said in a statement Monday.

Mitra operates the Bone PSC with 60 percent equity, in partnership with Azimuth Indonesia Limited. The assignment of the 40 percent interest to Azimuth was approved by the Government of Indonesia in December 2014, the statement said. Azimuth?s parent, AziPac Ltd signed a farm-in agreement with Mitra in June of last year for the acquisition of the Bone PSC interest.

The Bone PSC is situated in Bone Bay, offshore South Sulawesi, and lies in water depths extending from the coast to over 2,000 meters. The block covers an area of 7,516 km?, which is equivalent to approximately 327 Gulf of Mexico blocks or 31 UK Central North Sea blocks.
