Mitsubishi signs $105m contract to renovate power plant

State-owned electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) said that Japan's business giant Mitsubishi Corp. had won US$105.9 million contract to renovate the aging Muara Karang power plant unit 4 and 5 in North Jakarta .
PLN's deputy director for primer energy Tonny Agus Mulyantono said in Jakarta Monday that the renovation works would be financed by Japan Bank for International Corporation (JBIC), and that the loan agreement would be signed by the Indonesian government and JBIC as soon as the contract with Mitsubishi was signed.
Tonny said that the renovation of the first unit would be completed within 24 months, while that of the second unit will take place for about 28.5 months. With the renovation, the power plant will be able to use gas, he added. (*)
