Mitsui backs down from partnership with Medco in Jawa-1 tender

Japan?s Mitsui Co. Ltd has backed down from a consortium with PT Medco Power Generation Indonesia (MPGI) in the tender for the planned 2x800 MW PLTGU Jawa-1 combined-cycle power plant.

This was said by Lukman Mahfoedz, President Director of PT MPGI, a subsidiary of IDX-listed integrated energy company PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk, to Petromindo.com.

He said that MPGI has selected a new partner that has ?strong commitment? and able to work with Medco in the planned project. He added that the company would inform the name of the new partner to state-owned electricity firm PT PLN soon for approval.

Lukman said that the consortium plans to submit its bid for the project July 25. He did not provide further details.
