State electricity firm PLN said on Tuesday that Japan conglomerate Mitsui & Co had offered to build 700-MW combined cycle power plant in Java as Independent Power Producer (IPP).

?There have been talks with Mitsui, but firm decision is yet to be made. We have yet decided on the power plant?s location. But for sure, it would be located in West Java and it would be close to natural gas source or gas pipeline grid,? said PLN director Ali Herman Ibrahim in an interview with Petromindo.Com.

Ali Herman said another offer to build combined cycle power plant came fro South Korean power company Korean Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO). ?They are also offering to build 700-MW power plant in Java,? said Ali.(alex/godang)
