Mitsui sees lower coal import from Indonesia

Japan firm Mitsui Corp. will import less coal from Indonesia this year as power plants owned by its main customer in Japan Tohoku Electric are damaged by the recent earthquake and Tsunami.
Mitsui normally imported 20 million tonnes of coal from around the world to Japan annually with 50 percent of the supply came from Indonesia.
The official said that currently the company bought Indonesian coal with CV of around 6,000 kcal/kg at US$130 per tonne (FOB).
The official also said the company is looking to buy Indonesian coal with lower CV of 5,000-5,500 kcal/kg for its customers in India and China. (denny)
