MMC Norilsk Nickel to build copper smelters in Indonesia

OJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel has signed a Protocol of Cooperation with OJSC Russian Agency for Insurance of Export Credit and Investment (Protocol) for Norilsk?s copper smelters construction project in Indonesia.
The Protocol will establish partnership and develop long-term, effective and mutually beneficial cooperation aimed at providing insurance coverage for the Norilsk Nickel?s copper smelters construction project in Indonesia by way of insuring export credit and investment in Indonesia against entrepreneurial and political risks, the company said in statement.
The project involves erecting copper smelters with a throughput of up to 400 thousand tons of copper per year in Indonesia.
OJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel is currently going forward with a prefeasibility study involving Gipronickel Institute expertise.
