Coal mining company PT Manambang Muara Enim (MME) claimed that it has achieved half its full-year coal output target in the first six months by producing 500,000 tons from its concession in Tanjung Enim, South Sumatra.

Operational Director, Edi Wibowo told Petromindo.com on Friday that the company will not revise its 2015 coal production target amid the current bearish coal market.

?This year we are targeting one million tons (the same) as (what) we produced in 2014. And until June 2015 we were still on track by producing 500,000 tons. We will not revise our target,? he said, adding that most of the coal output was sold to PT PLN Batubara, a subsidiary of state-owned electricity company PT PLN.

Edi revealed that there were plenty of requests for MME?s coal. ?But we ignored the requests since the (asking) price was really at the lowest level. Hence, we only fulfilled the existing contracts especially with PT PLN Batubara,? he said.
