Coal mining company, PT Manambang Muara Enim (MME), stated that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with PT KA Logistic, subsidiary of PT Kertea Api Indonesia (PTKAI), to cooperate in coal transportation in South Sumatra.

Edi Wibowo, Director of MME, told Petromindo.Com on that under the MoU, PT KA Logistic will provide slot to transport about 3 to 6 million tons of MME?s coal from Muara Enim to Stasion Simpang, Musi Banyu Asin, South Sumatra. The total distance is about 130 km.

?From Simpang Station, the coal will be hauled using trucks to the RMK?s jetty with the total distance of 7 km,? Edi said adding that if the coal is hauled from the site to the jetty using the trucks, the distance is about 250 kilometers.

?By using railway rather than trucks, the hauling cost will be significantly lower,? he said
