Mooring tower for Banyu Urip completed

The construction of the mooring tower for the floating crude storage of the Banyu Urip field in Cepu block has been completed and the facility was officially shippped to from a yard in Cilegon, Banten, where it has been constructed, to offshore Cepu block in Central and East Java.
The mooring tower was inaugurated by SKK Migas Operation Deputy Muliawan in a ceremony on Friday. Also present during the ceremony were Mobil Cepu?s Project Executive Dan Wieczyinski, PT. Pertamina EP Cepu?s President Director Amril T. Mandailing, and the Cepu Block Cooperation Board Chairman Hadi Ismoyo.
The inauguration ceremony also marked the shipment of the mooring tower from Bakrie construction yard in Cilegon to the offshore area where the FSO Gagak Rimang is anchored. The floating storage and offloading (FSO) facility serves to store crude produced from Banyu Urip.
"We hope it (the mooring tower) will help accelerate the production process in Banyu Urip. President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will inaugurate the production increase of the field in October before ending his tenure as president,? SKK Migas Communication and Protocol Division Head Handoyo Budi Santoso told Petromindo.com on Friday.
The mooring tower was constructed by a consortium led by Indonesian company PT. Rekayasa Industri which partnered with Likpin, LLC and PT. Bakrie Construction in the shipyard owned by Bakrie in Sumuranja, PuloAmpel, Serang, Banten.
The mooring tower, which is part of the EPC-3 package of the Banyu Urip project which will be used as an offshore infrastructure for oil transportation in Banyu Urip. It will be planted into the seabed and tied to the FSO Gagak Rimang in order to maintain the FSO?s stability.
Handoyo said that until the third week of September 2014, the Banyu Urip project has been 90 percent completed.
Currently, it has been in production with a capacity of around 30,000 barrels per day (bpd) and the production is expected to increase up to 165,000 bpd next year.
