More LNG terminals planned

Director General of Oil and Gas Evita Legowo said the government has received requests to build more LNG receiving terminals in Indonesia on top of the three units already planned.

?Government has received proposals to develop LNG terminals in South Sulawesi and in Bali,? she said, without giving further detail.

State oil and gas company PT Pertamina (Persero), together with state gas distribution firm PGN will build a floating LNG terminal in Jakarta with initial capacity of 3 million per annum. PGN on its own also plans to build a floating terminal in North Sumatra and Pertamina in East Java. The three terminals are set to become onstream in 2012.

Evita said she will leave for South Korea this week to seek possible investors which might be interested to invest in LNG terminal development. (bernard)
