The police again questioned two senior officials of the state owned electricity company PLN on Friday over alleged corruption at the company's Muara Tawar power plant in Bekasi, West Java, Investor Daily reported on Saturday.

The national police's spokesman Anton Bachrul Alam said on Friday that the two PLN officials being questioned were the president director of PT Pembangkit Jawa dan Bali (PJB), the subsidiary of PLN in charge of power plant operations in Java and Bali, and the company's finance director.

He said that the examination of PJB's president director was the second since the investigation against the alleged corruption at the Muara Tawar power plant launched early in March, while the questioning of the company's finance director was the first.

He did not name the two officials but said that their status remained witnesses. The investigation was launched due indications of corruption practices during the purchase of one of the power plant's turbine.

The company's board of directors were reported to have bought second hand turbine rather than new one for efficiency reasons. The equipment was bought through appointed agent PT Columbia for US$41.6 million. (*)
