State owned electricity company PT. Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) will receive additional power supply of 182.3 megawatt (MW) for eastern Indonesia by the end of this year following the operation of several small and medium scale power plants in the area.

PLN?s director for construction Nasri Sebayang said on Thursday that as many as 12 power plants would begin operation before the end of this year, including PLTU Kota Baru, PLTU Lombok, PLTU Rote, PLTU Kendari 3, PLTG Kaltim Peaking, PLT M Santong, PLTP Ndungga, PLTM Praffi, PLTM Budong-Budong, PLT M Rongi, PLTA Genyem, and PLTP Ulumbu ADB.

He said that the construction of these power plants was not part of PLN?s 10,000 MW power plant fast track development plant. ?They are built as part of PLN?s regular program,? he said, adding that PLN would also receive additional supply of 195 MW for western parts of Indonesia from the operation of PLTGU Keramasan and PLTU Sanggau power plants in March, this year.

Nasri said in 2014, there would be additional supply of about 195 MW for eastern Indonesia from 16 power plants which are now under construction. In the same year, western Indonesia will receive additional supply of 89 MW from five power plants which are now also under construction. (*)
