Electricity company PT Pusaka Jaya Palu Power is currently in the process of expanding the capacity of its 30 MW Mpanau coal-fired power plant in Palu, Central Sulawesi, by 36 MW to help increase power supply in the region, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Wednesday.

The paper quoted Manager of Pusaka, Dedi Yumanta as saying that the company is developing the Mpanau unit 3 and 4, each with a capacity of 18 MW.

He said that construction is still on progress, and hoped that commercial operation could be started in September or October of this year.

Once the capacity is increased, the coal consumption of the power plant will more than double the current 15,000 tons per month, he added. (*)
