Indonesia-listed coal miner group PT Harum Energy Tbk reported Friday that coal production from its East Kalimantan coal miner PT Mahakam Sumber Jaya (MSJ) reached 3.5 million tonnes during first half of 2011.

MSJ is expected to produce 7.5 million tonnes of coal in 2011, up from 5.3 million tonnes in 2010.

Meanwhile, the company?s other coal unit PT Tambang Batubara Harum (TBH), which is located in East Kutai regency, East Kalimantan, has not started production yet. TBH is still in the process of mining license (IUP) extension, Harum said.

The company also has another coal unit PT Santan Batubara, which is a 50/50 joint venture with Indonesia-listed energy firm PT Indika Energy?s subsidiary PT Petrosea, but Harum did not provide the coal production figure from the SB mine during first half of 2011.

In the first quarter 2011, SB produced 400,000 tonnes of coal.

Harum Energy is planning to produce 10.5-10.7 million tonnes of coal in 2011, higher than its production of 7.4 million tonnes last year. SB is targeted to produce 2.5 million tonnes, higher than last year?s production of 2.1 million tonnes. (denny)
