Mt Muro gold operations temporarily suspended

ASX-listed Straits Resources said that operations at the company's Mt Muro gold project in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia have been suspended temporarily following a clash between police and illegal miners which took place on the mine property on Saturday, 29 June.
As a cautionary measure, the majority of Straits' personnel have been evacuated from the mine until the Indonesian National Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob) confirms that security has been restored. Brimob officers are on site, and the situation is described as calm.
Importantly, no Straits employees were injured during the altercation. However, operations could not immediately re-start as some site infrastructure, predominantly buildings, was damaged, said the company in the statement on Monday.
Straits Resources' Executive Chairman, Mr Andre Labuschagne is en-route to site today to assess the situation and to support the Company's local management team and personnel.
Operations will recommence as soon as practical and safe to do so. The Company will continue to keep the market informed once the situation has been fully assessed.
