ASX-listed Straits Resources Limited said that its Mt Muro gold operation in Indonesia has re-commenced mining activities in the eastern end of the Serujan Pit.
Managing Director of Straits Resources, Andre Labuschagne in the statement said: ?Since we first suspended mining activities on 10th January there has been extensive and on-going dialogue with all key stakeholders regarding the appropriate boundary line that defines the buffer between mining operations and the site of cultural significance at the eastern end of the Serujan Pit. This process has been extremely positive and constructive and I believe has strengthened our relationships with all stakeholders.?
?The company has recommenced production in the Eastern end of the Serujan Pit. This step has been taken after full consultation with the local community leaders, who have provided a letter of support to the company. A spiritual ceremony was held re-affirming their support of the originally negotiated ?100 metre? boundary line. The decision to recommence mining has also been advised to other key stakeholders. The company will maintain dialogue and continue re-establishing relationships with all parties.?
