Muara Alam to start coal production this year

South Sumatra's coal miner PT Muara Alam Sejahtera (MAS) said Thursday that it expected to start coal production in the end of this year, a company official said.
“In the first year, the company’s coal production will be focused in area of 164 hectares. The concession has total measured reserves of 22 million tons,” MAS director Yusril Ibadi as quoted by Sumatra Express daily.
He said that in the beginning, the company would produce around 500,000 tons annually but the output would be ramped up to 1.1 million ton per year within the next few years.
The company has a Mining License (KP) covering 2,821 hectares of lands in three locations in Lahat regency (*)
