Muara Bekasi ? Cirebon pipeline project to be tendered next week

Monday, August 27 2007 - 01:40 AM WIB

Downstream oil and gas regulator BPH Migas said that it would open a tender for the construction of 220 km-long-Muara Bekasi – Cirebon transmission pipeline next week, Bisnis Indonesia reported Monday.

BPH Migas’ director Indrayana Chaidir said in Jakarta Sunday that the US$269 million project was expected to be completed in 2010.

Thanks to the distribution pipeline, consumers in Cirebon, West Java will be able to get gas supplies transmitted through the South Sumatra-West Java pipeline which now ends in Muara Bekasi. This distribution pipeline will be connected with another pipeline linking Cirebon to Semarang in Central Java where a planned transmission pipeline linking East Kalimantan to Central Java will end.

After tendering the Muara Bekasi-Cirebon project, BPH Migas will also auction off projects for the construction of distribution pipelines connecting Surabaya-Gresik; Sidoarjo-Mojokerto; Probolinggo-Pasuruan; and Batam in early September.

“Today (Monday), we will discuss first which project to be tendered and when the tender will commence,” said BPH Migas’ committee member Trijono. (*)
