Muara Tawar substation to start operation end 2017

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN expects the Muara Tawar extra high voltage substation (GITET) to start operation at the end of this year, strengthening the electricity system in the Greater Jakarta region.

PLN Business Director for West Java Region, Murtaqi Syamsuddin said that Muara Tawar GITET has a capacity of 2x500 MVA and interbus transformer with voltage converted from 500 kV to 150 kV.

?Construction process is still in progress. The target is to start operation end of this year,? he told Petromindo.com, adding the company spends about Rp 600 billion for the project.

He added that PLN are also in the process of developing a number of other substations including Lengkong GITET, Duri Kosambi Gas Insulated Substation (GISTET), Tambun GISTET, and Priok GISTET, which are expected to be completed in 2018.
