East Kalimantan-based coal miner PT Multi Harapan Utama said on Thursday its output had declined to 1.1 million tons in 2002 from 1.3 million tons in 2001.

?Our production declined due to a drop in marketing,? company manager Obang Sobandi told Petromindo.Com, adding that the company had planned to raise output to 1.5 million tons in this year following a one-year coal supply contract to Taiwan Power Corporation.

The shipment would be started by this month, he added.

Multi Harapan is owned by Napan Group, Swabara Group, PT Asminco Bara Utama. Its coalmine is located in 30 km west of Samarinda in East Kalimantan. (godang)
