Murphy drilling campaign plan at Semai delayed

US firm Murphy Oil Corporation delays spudding date for its exploration campaign in Semai II block offshore West Papua on rig scheduling, an official with upstream oil, gas authority SKKMigas said.
Head of Survey and Exploration Drilling Dwi Nurcahyanto told Petromindo.Com that the rig is still working for BP in Tangguh, which location is not far from Semai II.
SKKMigas Spokesperson Zudaldi Rafdi said that the rig might be released in the next two months.
Murphy reported earlier that it planned to start drilling campaign in Semai II in the fisrt quarter of 2014. The company plans to drill Serai-1 well, to be followed by Bawang Putih-1. According to Murphy?s presentation Serai-1 and Bawang Putih-1 are targeting hydrocarbon potential of 350 mmboe and 250 mmboe, respectively.
The Semai II Block covers more than 2,000 km2, with water depth ranging from 0 to 2,000m after relinquishment in early 2013. Murphy and its partners in the block had drilled the Lengkuas-1 well in the block in the first half of 2011 and turned to be dry hole.
Murphy has 28.33% interest in the block, equal with partners Inpex and PTTEP. The remaining 15% balance is held by Pertamina Hulu Energi.
