Murphy to start drilling Papua block 2010

US oil gas firm Murphy Oil Corp. said on Thursday that prospects at Semai II exploration block offshore Papua would be ready to drill as early as 2010.
CEO David M.Wood said the targets in the blocks were oil and natural gas.
Semai II offshore block consists of approximately 3,300 square kilometers and is located south of West Papua.
The block was awarded in November 2008. Murphy is the block operator with 33.33 percent interest. Thai firm PTTEP holds 33.33 percent in the block and INPEX Corporation of Japan holds another 33.33 percent interest.
During the first 3 years, the partners will conduct 3D seismic survey and drill 3 exploration wells. (alex)
