The Musi hydropower plant will operate this week one of its three power units, which are now under construction in Kepahiang regency, Bengkulu, Investor Daily reported on Monday.

The project officer Terrry Rudiana said last week that the other two units were expected to begin operation in February and March. With three power generation units, each with a capacity of 70 MW, the Musi hydropower pant will be able to provide electricity supply of about 210 MW.

The construction of the power plant is conducted by Austrian and Japanese contactors, in cooperation with local companies. The project has absorbed about Rp 1.5 trillion in investment funds since its launch in 1994. (*)
