Musim Mas to build four biogas power plants

Musim Mas Group, which operates oil palm plantations and palm oil mills in Riau, is planning to build four additional biogas power plants using palm oil mill effluent (POME) each with a capacity of 3 MW in three regencies in the province, detik.com reported on Saturday.

Public Relations Manager of PT Musim Mas Gunawan Siregar said that the four new biogas power plants will be located in Rokan Hilir, Rokan Hulu, and Indragiri Hulu regencies.

He added that the electricity output will be sold to state-owned electricity company PT PLN to help increase power supply in the region.

Musim Mas currently owns two biogas power plants locate at its Batang Kulim palm oil mill area (3 MW capacity since 2012) and at its Pangkalan Lesung mill ( 2MW since 2010), both Pelalawan Regency. The Batang Kulim power plant has been connected with PLN grid since 2015. (*)
