The government of Myanmar has asked Indonesian government to construct coal-fired power plants in Myanmar as the latter's electrification rate was still about 30 percent.

Coordinating Minister for Economy Hatta Rajasa said that Myanmar was also seeking coal supply from Indonesia. Hatta visited Myanmar last week.

"(Myanmar) asked for our coal, we will build power plants there. The (business) opportunity is big," he said at the State palace before a cabinet meeting on Thursday.

Minister Hatta said that the president of Myanmar and the business forum in the country fully support Indonesia's participation in the project, due to the close ties of both countries.
