N. Sumatra?s new power plant to begin operation this month

The construction of the first unit of PLTU Labuan Angin coal-fired power plant in Central Tapanuli regency, North Sumatra has been completed and is scheduled to begin commercial operation next week.
The head of the power plant construction project, Aji Sutrisno, said in Jakarta early this week that the power plant which has two units each with a capacity of 115 megawatt would be fully operated on Jan. 21.
He said that the first unit carried out its trial operation from Aug. 30, 2009 through Jan. 11, this year. ?After some repairs, the plant will be operated before the end of this month,? he added.
The first unit of the power plant will provide power supply for North Sumatra, Aceh and Riau. (*)
