N. Sumatra to put geothermal prospects on tender

North Sumatra provincial government said two geothermal prospects in the province will be put on tender this year to find developers to build geothermal power plants.

Head of North Sumatra Energy and Mining Office Washington Tambunan told Petromindo.Com on Thursday that the provincial government will put on tender Sorik Marapi prospect in Mandailing Natal regency and Sipoholon prospect in Tapanuli Utara regency.

Tambunan said Sorik Marapi has prospect to generate 200-MW of electricity while Sipoholon has 75MW.

He said a number of local and international companies have expressed interest to participate in the tender. (alex/godang)
