PT Nagata Bisma Sakti, a subsidiary of PT Sumberdaya Sewatama, will build several hydropower plants with combined capacity of 50 megawatt in eastern Indonesia, Kontan daily reported on Thursday.

Elan B. Fuadi, the managing director of PT Nagata Bisma, said in Jakarta on Wednesday that the construction of the hydropower plants mostly located in Sulawesi would be begun this year. ?The hydropower plants will have capacity of 10 MW each. So, in the next four years, total capacity would reach 50 MW,? he added.

Elan said that the investment for the construction of the hydropower plants varied one another, depending on their locations. However, he said that the average cost of the construction of a hydropower plant would reach between Rp 15 billion and Rp 20 billion.

At least 70 percent of the investment for the construction of the hydropower plants would be used to build infrastructure facilities such as roads, and 30 percent for engineering works. (*)
