Philippines state utility National Power Corp. (Napocor) said Thursday that it is set to hold a series of tenders between November and January for new coal supply contracts worth 4.3 billion pesos (US$1=PHP52.725), Dow Jones Newswires reported.

Napocor said the contracts up for tender represent a total 2.67 million metric tons of coal needed for the next two years to fuel the power stations in Sual and Masinloc - both located north of Manila, and in Naga in central Philippines.

Meanwhile, a Napocor source said the coal supply for the 700-megawatt Pagbilao power station may be sourced through a government-to-government arrangement. (*)
