National energy plan signed by president

President Joko Widodo has signed the General Plan for National Energy (better known as RUEN) to implement Government Regulation No 79/2014 on National Energy Policy (or KEN).
This was said by Tumiran, a member of the National Energy Council (or DEN) following the council?s 20th annual meeting on Monday, chaired by its Executive Chairman Ignasius Jonan, who is also Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources.
Tumiran said that the signing of the RUEN by the president paves the way for regional governments to form the General Plan for Regional Energy (or RUED) with the assistance of DEN.
The regional governments are expected to be realistic in designing the RUED focusing on most efficient local energy resources.
The DEN annual meeting discussed among other things progress of the government?s 35,000 MW power plant development program. The council concluded that the five-year program must not be scaled down or delayed, thus must be completed by 2019 as initially targeted.
