National workshop on briquette to be held Thursday

A national workshop on the use of coal-briquette will be held in Jakarta on Thursday (March 6), which aims to promote the commodity as an alternative source of energy.

Julius Bobo, general chairman of Bara Nusantara cooperative that organizes the workshop, told Petromindo.Com that many in the country could no longer afford to buy oil fuels, and that they need to use briquette whose price is much lower than the price of oil fuels.

Provincial governors and regents will attend the meeting, while other participants will include representatives of cooperatives and briquette users, and interested investors. Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro will open the workshop.

Julius said further that Bara Nusantara had planned to import from Australia industrial machineries which use briquette as their source of energy. (leo)
