New BP MIGAS chairman vows to boost oil output

Kardaya Warnika, who was sworn in as new chairman of upstream authority BP MIGAS on Tuesday, vowed to boost the national oil output.
Kardaya targeted to increase the national oil output to 1.3 million barrels per day in 2009, from about 1 million barrels per day at present.
He named the Cepu block on the border of Central Java and East Java operated by American energy firm ExxonMobil Oil Indonesia (EMOI) and the Jeruk field off the coast of East Java operated by Australian energy firm Santos as the areas, where oil output can be increased to meet the target.
Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro, in his speech to mark the installment of Kardaya, stated that Kardaya?s main task given by the government was to increase the national oil output. (Godang)
