New dams planned for mini hydro power plants

The government plans to develop eight new dams, in addition to the 13 currently being developed, to support the development mini hydro power plants in the country.
Minister of Public Works Basoeki Hadimoeljono told Petromindo.com late last week that tender for the new dam projects is expected to be held in September-October of this year. He did not provide further details.
The government is currently developing 13 dams in several provinces, some of which to be integrated with mini hydro power plants, which according to the minister together could produce electricity more than 10 MW.
