New oil, gas reserves discovered at three wells

Drilling works at three exploration wells in the eastern part of Indonesia have successfully discovered oil and gas reserves, a senior official at upstream authority SKK Migas said.
Head of Exploration Division at SKK Migas, Nugrahani, said that the three wells include South Kecapi-1 well within the Bontang Block, offshore East Kalimantan, operated by Salamander Energy Pte Ltd; the North Klalin-3 well within the Bermuda Block in Salawati, operated by Petrochina International; and the Ajek-1 well within the Kofiau Block in Raja Ampat, West Papua, operated by Niko Resources.
Nugrahani said that drill steam test at Kecapi-1 well resulted in oil rate of 6,000 bpd and gas rate of 8 million cubic feet per day. At North Klalin-3 well, gas rate reached 7.8 million cubic feet per day and condensate of 240 bpd. ?There was also gas at Ajek-1 well.?
According to SKK Migas, during 2012, there were 60 wildcat wells being drilled, of which 28 showed hydrocarbon reserves including oil in five wells, gas in 13 wells, and both oil and gas in 10 wells. ?The success ratio was 46 percent,? Nugrahani said, while adding that there is a rising trend in the success ratio during the past three years. The average success ratio between 2010 and 2012 was 43 percent.
Nugrahani said in 2013, there are plans to drill a total of 144 exploration wells, comprising of 88 on shore wells, and 56 offshore.
