New regulation on electricity price from mini-hydro power plants issued

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) Jero Wacik has issued a new regulation on the price of electricity purchased by state-owned electricity firm PT PLN from small and medium-scale power plants fueled by renewable energy sources. The new regulation is a revision of MEMR Regulation No 12/2014, Investor Daily reported on Monday.

The paper quoted Director General of New and Renewable Energy Rida Mulyana as saying that the new regulation includes the price of electricity produced from micro-hydro power plants which utilize dams or water reservoir.

He said that the feed-in tariff of electricity produced from this type of power plant is 10 percent lower compared to other types of micro-hydro power plants.

According to the regulation, the feed-in tariff of electricity produced from micro-hydro power plant is set at Rp 1,075 per kWh for the first eight years, and declines to Rp 775 per kWh starting year nine to year 20. (*)
