Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Ignasius Jonan is currently finalizing a new ministerial regulation on the approval of installation operation in the oil and gas sector.

Director General of Oil and Gas at the ministry IGN Wiratmaja Puja said in a statement issued Monday that the new regulation would replace seven existing ministerial regulations and the directorate general?s decrees, without disregarding the main objective of oil and gas safety.

The existing rulings that would be replaced by the new ministerial regulation are ministerial regulations Permen PE 05/PM/PERTAMB/1977, Permen PE 06.P/0746/M.PE/1991, joint decree of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources and Minister of Trade Men PE & Mendag 0233K/096/M.PE/1988, and director general of oil and gas decrees SK DJM 43.P/38/DJM/1992, SK DJM 84.K/38/DJM/1998, SK DJM 21.K/38/DJM/1999, and SK DJM 39.K/38/DJM/2002.

He said that the new regulation will simplify the various certifications in the oil and gas operation. ?Certifications which are quite complicated will be simplified without reducing the safety aspect,? Wiratmaja said.
