Newcrest reports lower gold production from Gosowong mine

ASX-listed Newcrest Mining Lt said on Thursday that production at Gosowong mine on Halmahera Island, North Maluku Province, decreased in the September quarter due to lower head grade and throughput.
The company said in a statement that gold production during the quarter reached 68,524 oz, while sales stood at 81,108 oz.
?Lower throughput was primarily due to a fire incident at a power generator that temporarily reduced milling capacity, and an operational issue with one of the SAG mills. Both issues have since been resolved,? the statement said.
The statement said that AISC per ounce in the September quarter was slightly lower, due to a decrease in sustaining capital expenditure partially offset by the impact of the lower grade.
The company reported in July that gold production in the earlier June quarter was also lower at 80,035 oz, compared to 93,161 oz in the May quarter due to lower head grade at both Kencana and Toguraci.
