Australian mining firm Newcrest Mining corp. reported on Tuesday that July-September 2007 quarter gold production from its Gosowong mine in Hamahera island, North Maluku reached 105, 355 oz, compared to 101, 253 oz in the previous quarter.
The company said the record gold production was achieved due to higher volume of ore processed.
The company also said that discovery exploration drilling continued in the Gosowong district, as part of a programme of widely spaced drill holes designed to identify further gold-bearing faults in the area surrounding and including the high-grade Gosowong, Toguraci and Kencana gold deposits.
Newcrest has 82.5% shares in the Gosowong joint venture. (alex)
