The Association of the Indonesian Moslem Students (KAMMI) has urged gold and copper mining company PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara (NNT) to condemn the United States-led attacks against targets in Afghanistan and to call the American government to stop the action.

The call was made by the association?s chairman Ronny Yulto SK during their protest in front of Newmont?s office on Jalan Sriwijaya, Mataram on Wednesday, Bali Post reported from Denpasar on Thursday.

The association members met H. Yusuf, one of Newmont?s executives but the later refused to comment on the students? call, saying that any statement related to the U.S. attacks against Afghanistan should be made by the company?s headquarter office in the U.S.

The protesters also raised a banner saying ?Bring Bush to the International Court and boycott American products.? According to the association members, the United States should stop the air strike against Afghanistan before Moslems started their fasting month in the next few days. (*)
