PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara (NNT) has donated drinking water, rice and blankets for thousands of victims of flooding in Taliwang, Sumbawa island, in West Nusa Tenggara province, that had displaced about 42,000 people.

NNT spokesperson Irada Fuad said that the company also lent its helicopter to transport various supplies for the displaced flood victims.

Supplies of food, blanket, clothes, drinking water and others continue to flow in into Sumbawa from various quarters, including from the Sumbawa administration and from a number of companies such as NNT and PT Multi Mina Mertasari.

The flooding in Taliwang, the worse of its kind in the last 50 years, had forced thousands of families to flee their inundated houses for safe areas. The flooding has been subsiding since Monday. (*)
