Newmont informs interested parties on lime supply

PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara (PTNNT), a unit of US mining giant Newmont Mining Corp. on Friday held a special session to inform various interested business parties on the company's status and requirements of lime supply . The event was attended by various business interests from NTB as well as other part of the country.

Although the existing supply agreement with a contractor is until end of 2002, PTNNT has the intention of looking for other offers at the end of the said period, said the company.

PTNNT is planning to offer an open bid for all interested business parties but will give priority to local companies that can meet our requirements competitively.

PTNNT explained that its basic consideration for any lime supplier is the capability in demonstrating a lime supply that can competitively satisfy PTNNT's requirements in terms of price, quality and minimizing negative environmental and social impacts. PTNNT intends to evaluate and renew its lime supply needs on an annual competitive basis.
