Newmont Nusa Tenggara awards scholarships to 430 students

Copper and gold mining firm PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara (PTNNT) has awarded scholarships to 430 secondary school and university students from all regencies in West Nusa Tenggara province where the company has operations.
The 430 students were among the more than 1,000 people who had applied for PTNNT scholarships for the 2002-2003 period. PTNNT announced the names of award receivers on August 21, the company said.
PTNNT, one of Indonesia?s major copper and gold miners, is majority owned by U.S. mining giant Newmont Mining Corporation, while other shareholders are Sumitomo Corporation of Japan and an Indonesian company, PT Pukuafu Indah. (robert/leo)
