Newmont Nusa Tenggara records lower nickel, gold shipment in Q1 2002

West Nusa Tenggara based copper and gold miner PT. Newmont Nusa Tenggara (NNT), a unit of mining giant Newmont Mining Corp. shipped 191,832 tonnes of concentrate which contained 60,187 tonnes of copper and 72,243 ounces of gold as opposed to last year?s corresponding quarter shipment of 197,602 tonnes concentrate which contained 68,232 tonnes of copper and 120,887 ounces of gold.
Parent company Newmont Mining Corp. said earlier that the decrease was due to lower ore grade milled.
The company said during 2002, it planned to ship 865,000 tonnes of concentrate, lower than last year?s shipment of 893,717 tonnes.(alex)
