Newmont pays Rp 1 trillion to the government

PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara (NNT) paid a total of Rp 1. 12 trillion (US$=Rp 9050) in royalties, tax and non-tax obligation to the government during the first quarter of this year, the company has said.

The payment comprised Rp 60 billion in royalties, Rp 696 billion in corporate income, Rp 164 billion in tax for interest income from dividend and royalties, Rp 146 billion in other taxes, and Rp 36 billion in individual income tax.

The company?s spokesman Arif Perdanakusumah said that the dividend payment for the first quarter of this year was far higher than Rp 33 billion in the same quarter of 2009.

In the same period, last year, the company paid Rp 348 billion in corporate income tax, Rp 4 billion in tax for interest income from dividend and royalties and Rp 8 billion in other tax payment.

?Since the beginning of the operation, Newmont has paid a total of Rp 16.2 trillion in tax, non-tax obligation and royalties,? he said. (*)
