Newmont pays Rp5.76 trillion in taxes, royalties in 2010

Copper and gold miner PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara (PTNNT) paid the government a total of Rp 5.76 trillion (1US$ = Rp 9,020) in taxes, non-taxes and royalties in 2010, higher compared to the previous year's figures of Rp 3.9 trillion.

Corporate income tax made up the biggest portion of the amount, totalling Rp 4.66 trillion, followed by dividend amounting Rp 636 billion, royalties Rp 265.9 billion and personal income tax (PPh 21) Rp 177 billion, the company said in statement on Monday.

Since the start of operation to the end of 2010, PTNNT has paid a total of Rp 21.17 trillion in taxes, non-taxes and royalties, it said.

The firm operates Indonesia?s second largest copper mine Batu Hijau in West Nusa Tenggara. (godang)
